Clinical Services for Financially Distressed Clients
The Family Therapy Teaching Clinic offers individual, couple, family and group therapy provided by LMFT interns and graduate level Clinical Practicum students and other specialty interns. Students and interns are supervised by licensed and certified supervisors. The Teaching Clinic provides services on a fee for service basis with the fee determined on a sliding scale basis. Call to arrange an assessment and to determine your fee obligation.
Child and Adolescent Resource Center
WestGate TCN in collaboration with Fernwood Baptist Church offers therapy to families with children and adolescents through our Child and Adolescent Resource Center. Many children develop feelings of fear and frustration due to social circumstances such as divorce and separation, single parent homes, neighborhood violence, death and loss, and demands made by school, family, and friends. These feelings may result in a child or adolescent exhibiting socially inappropriate or disruptive behaviors. The primary goal of the Child and Adolescent Resource Center is to focus on children and adolescents and their families to help them find solutions, personal strengths and resources to assist them in developing skills to overcome these difficulties.
Systematic Training for Effective Parenting
Improving parent-child relationships is the focus of a series of discussion sessions. The discussions will be based on Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP), the most widely used parent education program in the country. STEP encourages mutual respect between parent and child, increased cooperation, more effective communication, and a more responsible, self-reliant attitude among children. Sessions last for 6 weeks. The cost is $10 per session for an individual and 15$ per session for a couple.
